It’s not difficult to get hold of vintage cardigans. It is quite likely that the real deal, an actual vintage cardigan from the 1950’s and earlier might be, but isn’t always, costly. The internet is a wonderful resource for snagging yourself a vintage cardigan. I saw the most stunning vintage cardigan I’ve ever seen on any website, a soft beige color with a faux fur collar and three imitation pearl buttons. The fit was form-fitting and would look terrific on a slim or medium-build woman. Matched with vintage cowboy boots, the look is complete.

Ebay has an impressive number of matches for vintage cardigans and many of them are absolutely adorable. Personally I couldn’t part with some of the cardigans I found here. One in particular made me smile. It was a nice winter cardigan with a thick, gray collar and a matching gray beret, a sweater only a grandmother could wear.

Garage sales have been known to unearth unique items. You have to get up early in the morning and plan on making several stops if you want a vintage shirt from a garage sale. Auctions are awesome because they always display vintage and used items. That’s what auctions are for. If you’re going to snag a vintage cardigan a clothing auction is your best bet. Or rummage through your grandmother’s attic and see what you can find there. She might have a 40-year-old cardigan and not even know about it.

Used clothing and thrift stores such as Value Village, the Salvation Army and the Goodwill are other possibilities. Don’t be skeptical about these places. My cousin once found a cool vintage bowling shirt from the 1950’s with a matching bolero-style jacket. It was in excellent shape and lined. I’ve never seen anything so incredible for such a cheap price. She paid $12.00 for the whole outfit! Believe me when I say I just ate my heart out.

When you hear the word “vintage” what comes to mind? For some people it’s “old”. For others, “used.” Still others think “cheap”, “expensive”, “outdated”, or “tasteful”. The fact of the matter is all of these people may be quite correct! One could also see that even through the film Working Girl, there is a clear concept of the eighties style of womens blazers. By the eighties all women would be wearing blazers to their respective official work places. Blazers came in different colors, had buttons and big shoulder pads. Women usually wore vintage blazers made of wool flannel, cashmere or lighter fabrics such as cotton, polyester or rayon. Womens blazers were more fitted than mens blazers. Today we find that women usually wear jackets that are either short in length or are fitted. The jackets that are long in length are not easily available, but one can be sure that designers will soon get them back in the fashion world.

One can wear them with a shirt and a tie or even without a tie. Blazers look smart with denims or trousers.

People like to re-live a time in their past that they really enjoyed and feel very nostalgic about. They often go looking for retro designs  that they might have worn back when they were a kid. Many times it can be a reminder of a simpler, better time in their life when they werent dealing with the difficult events of current everyday life. If you find a design that you like, you can often ask the seller to print the design on a different colored shirt, or other item like hoodies, hats, mugs, bags, or keychains.

Out of print shirts will bear logos, movie characters, bands, or other pop culture references that remind people of when they were young. A number of collectors boast of inimitable vintage shirt collections. Apart from comprising of singular products, they are of a high value. Vintage shirts can sometimes demand a high price and some people have amassed huge vintage T-shirt collections for both personal and monetary purposes.  You can even convert an old shirt into a tank top by cutting it up.

People usually buy vintage shirts from local shops or online stores. Some stores offer vintage shirts that are original t-shirt designs or logo iron-ons from a older decades. Now there are companies that do reproductions of old shirts of all sorts, including button-up, baseball shirts, jerseys, and more. There are so many retro designs available that you can often find shirts marked with old company logos, rock star images, and even celebrity portraits.

They can be worn as a fashion statement, to draw laughs, or simply kept away as an investment. T-shirt pricing varies widely depending on scarcity of the design, condition, and the materials used. For instance, some cartoon-inspired vintage clothing online are popular and rare, and command much higher prices.

Vintage almost assures you that no one else (perhaps quite happily) will be seen in quite the same outfit as you. That said, where to find one of these colourful, boxy prizes? There are several tried and true places where vintage clothing of any sort abounds.

If the cowboy look is your style then you're going to need the wardrobe to carry it off. New cowboy shirts aren't difficult to find because they aren’t the real deal most of the time. They’re usually plaid shirts with some embroidered detailing around the chest and the front pockets. They look good but they aren't the real thing. If you want to really feel like a cowboy your best bet is a vintage cowboy shirt once worn by a real cowboy at some point in time.

“Isn't that going to be more expensive?” you ask. Yes and no. Start with Ebay and see what you find there. They wont be common and it will be difficult to find your precise fit since most sellers will only offer one, two at the most. I went online and checked out the amount of vintage cowboy shirts on Ebay and this is what I personally found. When I simply entered cowboy shirts I got scads of pictures and items up for bidding. On the front page, without entering the word vintage, I found five pictures of cowboy shirts wherein the sellers claimed them to be vintage.

Another avenue to try is the Salvation Army. Don't roll your eyes in your head at that one. If you scour through the clothing bins and racks at the Sally Ann you'd be surprised at some of the treasures you can find there. You might even be lucky enough to find a discarded cowboy or rodeo belt while you're at it. One young man who was into designer wear searched through a Salvation Army store and he found a nearly new Marc Jacobs men's designer wear shirt marked down from $200 to $50. Who knew?

If you’re lucky enough to be in Texas or Kentucky anytime soon the best way to shop vintage will no doubt be at the source. Doubtless shopping in person rather than online for this type item of clothing has to be a lot of fun. Strap on your cowboy boots, match it with a vintage mini dress, and get scootin' pardner!

Are you an old western movies fan? It’s pretty much impossible to resist the allure of Clint Eastwood fighting for a prostitutes honor in “The Unforgiven” or John Wayne exacting revenge from a gang of ruthless, rogue cowboys.

I'm not so sure about that! The shirts looked pretty new and modern to me, hardly the mark of a vintage item unless of course it’s been very carefully preserved. Still here is the wording for one of these so-called vintage cowboy shirts that just made me smile: Western Snap Cowboy Vintage Punk Rock Shirt. Say what? I didn't know that vintage and punk rock belonged in the same sentence. For that matter, I didn't know there was such a thing as a punk rock western cowboy shirt. Oh well, as long as you match your vintage cowboy shirt with a nice pair of vintage cowboy boots, you should be good for the long haul.
