Women’s fascination with shoes has been around since the dawn of time. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating, but it’s an accepted fact that their love for shoes sometimes borders in obsession. For them, the ultimate in shoe fashion are of course, high heeled shoes. These shoes can make a woman’s legs look a lot sexier whether they’re stilettos or low kitten heels.

Some women are scared to try these heels because they don’t think the shoes would look good in them. The trick is to find the right kind of style that fits you. From the many available styles out there, it’s a certainty that there’s an ideal design for everyone. For instance, a simple black pump (round or pointed toes) is a prerequisite for a simple-looking women’s attire.
I can personally attest that it’s not impossible to find comfortable high heeled pumps. Searching for the ideal pump is a difficult task for me because of my toes that are both long and narrow. But the secret to the success of your search lies in identifying and understanding what you really want and need. Pay extra attention to the heel, it must be rubberized to avoid slipping. Padded soles that protect the ball of the foot which is subjected to pressure are ideal.
When it comes to mules, I always have a fear of injuring myself wearing these. There are instances when a woman’s foot slips out of these shoes, causing ankle sprain or other injuries. Mules that have ridges on the sole provide extra traction. These ridged soles are must-haves to prevent accidents and injuries.
My personal favorites are high heeled sandals. The adjustable and sometimes padded straps really got me hooked. With these, you can have the beauty of a pointed toe pump and the comfort of a sandal. To ensure comfort, check the straps thoroughly by feeling their texture. Avoid shoes with rough seams or protruding stitches. Your feet can brush against the straps’ rough surface and may cause blisters and even wounds.
As we all know, pumps come in different kinds. High heeled sandals are ideal for warm weather. These shoes are designed with trims (braided straps or leather flowers) that make them more sensual than the ordinary pumps.
Some women prefer open toe pumps. With these, the toes are provided more space. This type is especially more appealing to women with newly painted toenails.
The pointed toe pump is already considered a classic. This is ideal for women who are into chic and fashionable attire. In purchasing a pair of these, select a size that’s ½ size larger than your normal size. Padded cushions are useful in protecting the feet from pain or blisters. The shoes’ toe part can be stretched by putting a crumpled paper or fabric into it after every use.
Round toe pumps provide more breathing room for your toes because the toe part of these shoes is not as narrow as the pointed ones. Mary Jane style is the most popular type of round toe pumps. It exudes a tinge of innocence and a dash of sophistication with its strap over the instep combined with a chunky heel.

Slingback Pumps are comprised of an open heel with an attached strap that gives extra support. There are two types of straps for these: the flexible band that grips the back of your heel or the buckled one that’s adjustable. If you’re one of those always on the go women, opt for the elastic slingback because it can slip quickly on your foot. But for those who have wide or narrow tootsies, buckled strap is more advisable.
Mules are strapless and backless shoe which you can easily slide on your foot. Because they don’t have straps to secure your feet, they are a lot lower oftentimes with just kitten heels. Clogs are also designed after mules but less appealing.
If you’re not very comfortable in using mules, you can insert a textured insole pad called grip to keep mules safely on your feet. Being a bit clumsy, grips are a necessity for me every time I wear mules. Personally, I think mules are not really for persons like me who have shaky ankles.
Stiletto literally means a slim Italian dagger. Some people even call these shoes spike heels. The heels of an authentic stiletto shoes are made durable by stabilizing steel posts. Usually, the height of stilettos ranges from 4-5 inches but there are some that reach an unbelievable height of 10 inches.
Obviously, you’ll look taller in these shoes. It will also give your legs a slimmer and longer look. Before wearing them outside, it’s recommended that you practice walking with them first inside the house so that you’ll get use to them. Not doing this can cause embarrassing mishaps and injuries.
It’s not advisable to wear stilettos every time. Doing this may damage your leg muscles and tendons. That’s why it’s recommended to try alternating the type of shoes you use.
A “booty” is a combination of a pump and a boot. These shoes have shafts that are 2-3 inches above the ankle. Some designs are ideal for skirts whereas others are perfect for pants. There are new ankle boot designs that feature an open toe. Personally, this style goes against my taste but you should not hesitate to try it first because you might like it.
